Neither the cold nor ice could subdue the tropical heat that emanated from AHYC last night. Enticed by sun, Caribbean rhythms and exotic tropical food and drink, members and guests came to enjoy Calypso Night at the club. The dining room and bar were decorated with an eclectic array of and lights and artifacts. Palapas, lighted palms, sea shells, surfboards, an oar for doing the Limbo and someone said “Gold Fish” pleased the eye and senses.
Bartenders Kevin and Alyssa mixed tropical favorites and some new creations. Next time you are at the club, be sure to ask for a Jenntini. Thanks to our wait staff too. The modified pub menu featured some Caribbean treats. I had the chicken corn chowder that had just the right tang, and the jerk chicken quesadilla.
DJ Johnny once again provided the music, Reggae, Calypso, a little of this and a little of that. Dancers in Tropical garb ranging from the demure to bright danced and reveled.
This Entertainment Committee 2012 kickoff event was another tribute to the creativeness and ingenuity our membes bring to AHYC. Thanks so much to all who made this possible. Janet, Jennifer, Steve, Karen and to everyone else who put in such an effort. |
